Flash 10.1 on HTC EVO 4G...with no root or Froyo 2.2 needed

Do you love your new EVO 4G but hate it’s limited Flash lite player? Well that ends now , as you can download and install Adobe Flash 10.1 and start enjoying a full flash experience with your EVO 4G. All of this can be done without the need to root the device or Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

We have to give it up once again for the Android guru’s for doing great work like this that lets us mere mortal Android users to take full advantage of the Google mobile operating system. Th only problem so far is that it doesn’t seem to work on all the devices judging by comments left on XDA forums. Those with HTC EVO 4G seem to have no problems with it and have been happy to have the ability to stream movies just fine with the big screen smartphones.

Yes, this certainly may just demolish the battery life on the HTC EVO, even more so than it already does. But not having to wait for the Android 2.2 Froyo update in order to get Flash 10.1 Player on your EVO may be worth the battery drainage for some. Especially since we know it’s probably going to be a while until HTC officially releases the update for their 4G baby.

What could make this latest version of Flash 10.1 Player even better? Well, how about that it works with the HTC Hero as well, and possibly some other Sense 2.1 devices out there, (hello, Droid Incredible). While the full Flash experience may indeed work on the HTC Hero, there’s no telling how it will perform on the lower-spec Android phone. We’ve yet to get any real-time action with it yet, but we’ll be sure to update it when we get some hands-on with it.

This is a big win for the Sense devices that have been running 2.1, with no definitive time line as to when they may be receiving Froyo anytime soon. Let’s hope a similar fix is coming to the Droid X, if Flash isn’t already available when it gets out of the gate.
